Geographical and Environmental Engineering is a higher education programme that trains integral professionals with social sensitivity, competent to analyse, understand and solve the problems of the territory, guide its physical and human development with sustainability criteria and design systems and techniques for territorial and environmental management, using modern information and communication technologies.

Graduate profile

The objective is to train professionals in Geographical and Environmental Engineering who are able to identify, understand and solve problems related to the use of natural resources and the physical and human structures and processes of the territorial system, using modern information and communication technologies.

The Geographical and Environmental Engineer is a professional qualified to know, identify and solve problems related to the use of the territory and its resources, capable of covering the needs of programming and execution of environmental and sustainable development projects; he/she is efficient in the planning and organisation of the geographical space and in the use of modern cartographic technologies and geographical information systems.

He works professionally as:

  • Researcher on territorial, geographical and environmental issues and sustainable development at different spatial levels.
  • Consultant, advisor and auditor of geographical and environmental studies and research, and of all the processes of interrelation between society and nature.
  • Designer, guide, executor and administrator of policies and programmes for development planning, land-use planning and environmental management.
